Xap is a hippogryph and the steed of Xavier. He met Chem, a centaur, while helping Irene search for Ivy. He mated with Chem in 1072, and Chex, an alicentaur, was foaled in 1073.[1] Later on, Xap convinces Chex to go seek out the winged monsters and Cheiron.[2]

Xap is a major character in Dragon on a Pedestal. He appeared briefly in Vale of the Vole and Man from Mundania. He was mentioned in Heaven Cent and Question Quest.
